Past Talent
Jordan Adams
Jordan Adams is a talented 7-year-old classical
pianist and plays many styles of classical music. He has been playing
for approximately 4 years for the European Academy of Music and
Art, in Burtonsville, Maryland, under the expert tutelage of Dr.
Bella E. Oster. He is enrolled in the gifted and talented program
at the Academy and has amassed a few accomplishments worthy of recognition.
He completed 2 international piano performance evaluations for the
Music Teacher’s Association International, Inc. in 1999 and
2000. From these evaluations, he has received international recognition
and is an A+ international honor roll student in classical music.
He has also been awarded a scholarship in the program for both years.
He performed for the Governor of Maryland in a celebration for the
Arts. Also to celebrate the Arts in Maryland, he performed at the
Prince George’s County Harlem Renaissance Jazz Festival. He
performed for a host of embassies in the District of Columbia in
2000-2002 and also the United Nations in New York. He performed
at Carnegie Hall in August 2002 and for It’s Showtime at the
Apollo in November 2000. He was the Apollo kids winner for the week.
He was an award winner at the MARS Youth Music Talent Showcase in
Virginia and a gold medal winner in Pennsylvania Regional competition.
He recently performed at an event honoring Drs. Bill and Camille
Cosby and performed at the Kennedy Center with other talented classical
musicians.
Jordan has been featured in 3 newspapers, the Washington Post, the
Laurel Leader and Laurel Gazette and 2 magazines, Ebony and Our
Pride and Joy, July-August 2000 issue, where he was also featured
on the cover. He has appeared on Good Morning America, The Early
Show with Bryant Gumbel, Inside Edition, Dan Rather’s American
Dream and a host of local news channels. He has been contacted to
appear on Sesame Street, BET, the Oprah show, Rosie O’Donnel
show, Maury Povich show and Jay Leno show. He has also been invited
to do a track on a CD for the European Academy of Music and Art’s
top students.
In addition to his piano accomplishments, Jordan excels in his academics
as well. He is a student at Scotchtown Hills elementary school in
Laurel, Maryland. He is enrolled in the talented and gifted program
at the school and has been advanced to the 3rd grade for a more
challenging, advanced curriculum. He participates in a home study
program for an hour a day, at the 4th/5th grade level in math, reading
and writing skills. He really enjoys showcasing all of his talent
from playing music to writing a letter or doing math problems. He
performs for everyone who visits his home or wherever there is a
piano and he will tell you himself, the more he practices, the better
he gets.
Jordan lives in Laurel, Maryland with his parents, Kenneth and Crystal
Adams.
